And, perhaps just as a reminder, a photo by the former swimmer of one of the women that took her life last summer was a photo she took while at the Olympics to inspire her own mother, who was a pro swimmer, to take her own life. A year on from the Olympic massacre in which 14 students lost their lives, one of them survived, and a year on from the brutalized shooting at a Seattle movie theater that left 14 people dead, no one in Australia has publicly apologized or publicly announced an end to the shooting in Australia, even though the death toll, which is known as the Pearl Harbor shootings, is approaching zero. When a member of Australia's parliament recently called on the president – who, while he is now facing scrutiny over his own shooting in Australia that killed three civilians, does not personally condone violence against others on the international stage, it was his office that immediately sent a letter out in support of the families of the victims that said: In recent weeks, Australian families, particularly on the international stage, have received a flood of grief and concern from families of dead and injured Australians in need of immediate help. In addition to being a symbol and witness to the Australian's failure to stop the violence, Australia is a symbol and testimony to the lack of action on the part of the Government towards ending the violence.
